Sears, Roebuck House and Cottage

This authentic Sears, Roebuck bungalow was mail-ordered and delivered by local rail in the 1930s. The clients wanted to retain the architectural integrity of the one-story bungalow. The project consisted of updating the interiors and expanding to accommodate guests. A one-story guest cottage was designed at the rear of the property. This arrangement creates an ensemble of house, cottage, and existing one-car garage connected by walkways, low stone walls, and gardens that enhance the function and character of the property.

Rain chains extend from the large overhanging eaves on the patio to conduct water to the ground in place of down spouts.

The cottage is featured in our ‘House Plan Sales’ under ‘The Craftsman’
